Statement from the Entries' Secretary
We are pleased to report that the Regatta again had over 200 entries for the third successive year. We are also lucky in that we have received permission to operate some events as 3-abreast this time.
The downside is that to fit the Regatta into a civilised time-span, the entry had to be reduced by what turned out to be about 25%; whilst this is better than for the last two regattas (about 40%), it still means that what may well look like a lot of crews have had to be disappointed.
As before, we have operated as much as possible on the basis of reducing competitors who are doubling-up to just one event, whilst trying to retain qualifying events intact and - wherever practicable - contacting club administrators to move crews into an adjacent category.
Making things run smoothly - our request to competitors
You will see that most of the afternoon races are at 4-minute intervals, and not our usual 5 minutes. It is ESSENTIAL that crews turn up at the start in good time; if there is any problem with either crew or boat it must be reported to Race Control immediately, as unless a delay is requested races will be started on time.
The draw has been arranged to avoid boat-doubling clashes as much as possible in the first heats, but if any do arise they should be brought to Race Control's attention immediately (upstairs at HSBC RC).
Reconciliation and settlement of any amounts outstanding will be made on Regatta day, by or to the Hon. Treasurer upstairs in the HSBC RC clubhouse.
If an entry remains unpaid by Regatta day, the crew involved will not be permitted to race.
Substitutions may not be made through OARA, but should be e-mailed to: secretary@horr.co.uk OR handed in on the day .
